- Brookwood Asylum in Surrey was a self-contained village treating the mentally challenged. Opened in 1867 to complement the Springfield Asylum in Tooting, the hospital was enlarged shortly afterwards to accommodate female patients. No exact date for their own fire brigade. They were still very active in the nineteen-sixties and sometimes gave support to Surrey Fire Brigade at large incidents. Hospital records show the brigade was disbanded in 1987. The entire site was flattened after the hospital closed in 1994.
